Rollator Safety Unit (RSU)

EASY, COMFORTABLE AND SAFE

More and more especially elderly and handicapped people use the rollator or rolling walker. It gives them the possibility to stay mobile and independent. Our mission is to enlarge their range of activity by using the public transport systems in an easy, comfortable and safe way with minimal impact on the operator’s business and the driver’s job.

The only thing operators have to do, is to mount a rollator-rest unit in an easily accessible area in their public transport vehicles.

FUNCTIONALITY

Person

  • Put rollator in place
  • Engage brake
  • Pull out the belt until the stop
  • Turn around, sit down and enjoy the ride
  • Stand up and turn around
  • Release brake
  • Leave the vehicle

Unit

  • Initial situation
  • About 7 seconds later the belt is tightened
  • After use the belt moves back automatically

EFFECTIVNESS

By using the RSU

The Rollator…

  • Doesn't move*
  • Doesn't overturn*

* By much higher accelerations the rollator moves and overturns as the other seating passengers will fall from their seats.

Standard Crash-dummy in start position with engaged RSU.

Dummy is falling off caused by high curve acceleration but the Rollator stands still.
